IPL 2023: LSG skipper KL Rahul ruled out of IPL 2023, WTC Final outing in doubt
KL Rahul ruled out of IPL 2023: Indian opener had missed the Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) latest Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 outing against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday, May 3 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
This came after the serious injury he had sustained during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He injured himself while fielding and although he came out to bat at No.11 during LSG’s run-chase, he was unable to run.
Now recent developments stated that the LSG skipper is ruled out of the ongoing season of the cash-rich league. The 31-year-old left the field in pain after getting injured during LSG’s ninth game of the season but later came out to bat. He faced difficulty while running during his time in the middle.
KL Rahul ruled out of IPL 2023, likely to miss WTC Final
Rahul travelled to Mumbai for scans after the LSG-CSK game, and now it has been revealed that the injury is quite serious and he won’t be able to take any further part in the ongoing IPL 2023. And that’s not all; he is also most likely to miss the bus for the ICC World Test Championship final. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team, which sits at the No. 1 position in the ICC Test rankings, will face Australia in the summit clash of WTC 2023 at the Oval from June 7 to 11.
The results of the scans will determine his participation in the WTC final. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) team, which monitors his treatment, has not informed anyone concerned, including the team management, as of Thursday night, but those who know the situation are not exactly optimistic. In all likelihood, Rahul will be out of the WTC final too.
There’s no clarity over Rahul’s exact injury issue, as neither the LSG management nor the BCCI have come up with a formal statement. It is believed that he could be suffering from a hamstring or hip injury.
As per the report, if Rahul misses out, then Ishan Kishan is likely to join the Indian squad for the WTC Final in his place.
