IPL 2023 DC vs SRH: David Warner touches Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s feet with both hands, video goes viral
Warner touches Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s feet: The 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going on between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. Hyderabad are at second last position on the points table with only two wins from six matches, while David Warner’s side is at the bottom with only one win.
David Warner, on Monday (April 24), returned to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to lead Delhi Capitals against his former team Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Hyderabad-based stadium and the team hold a really special place in the Australia superstar’s cricket career.
Watch: DC captain David Warner touches Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s feet
Warner, who started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils in 2009 before moving to Sunrisers Hyderabad and was later bought by DC ahead of IPL 2023, was seen with Bhuvneshwar Kumar before the match. In a heartwarming gesture, Warner touched the feet of the Indian pacer, and gave him a tight hug.
In the video, Warner can be seen running towards Bhuvneshwar before touching his feet and hugging him. Notably, Bhuvneshwar and Warner were teammates at SRH.
David Warner spent almost a decade playing for SRH. He represented them from 2014 to 2021 and established himself as one of the best batsmen and captains in the league while plying his trade for them. In 2016, the Southpaw led SRH to their maiden and so far only IPL title. He led the team from the very front, scoring a stunning 848 runs. Only Virat Kohli scored more runs than him in the 2016 edition.
DC’s Warner receives a raucous welcome by the opposition crowd
Unsurprisingly, David Warner is a crowd favorite in Hyderabad and one can say that he must have won even more hearts with his gesture just before the game between Delhi Capitals and SRH. David Warner shared a special moment with his former teammate Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
DC Skipper was given a raucous cheer by the Hyderabad crowd when he won the toss. He had led SRH to their only IPL trophy, in 2016, before being sacked in 2021.
When asked about this roar in reception from the opposition crowd, the left-hander said: “My mindset is to thank the crowd, they’ve been a great support. For me, it’s about entertaining them. Absolutely love this venue, I owe it to the fans. Sarfaraz Khan comes in and Ripal Patel is in. I owe it to the curator, you have to start well.”
He didn’t have a great homecoming with the bat, though, as he managed just 21 runs off 20 balls. After having another slow start, he hit two fours and a six but got out to Sundar, who picked three wickets in one over to rattle DC.
