He fell ill, Lost 7-8 kgs after that match: Hardik Pandya on Yash Dayal after being hit for 31 runs
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for giving budding cricketers a platform to showcase their skills and become known globally.
Rinku Singh is one such talent who made a name for himself with his remarkable performance during a match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, his heroics had an adverse impact on Gujarat Titans’ fast bowler Yash Dayal.
The Rinku Singh Show
During a match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Gujarat Titans needed 29 runs off the final over. Rinku Singh, KKR’s batter, had other plans as he hit five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal’s deliveries to give his team an unlikely win. His performance was celebrated by his teammates and fans, but it wasn’t the same for Gujarat Titans, especially Yash Dayal, who bore the brunt of Singh’s assault.
After Gujarat Titans’ win over Mumbai Indians, their captain, Hardik Pandya, revealed that Yash Dayal had fallen ill after the match. Pandya stated that Dayal was not in a good condition after taking a hammering from Singh on April 9th.
Dayal had lost 7-8 kilos due to a viral infection that had spread during that period and the pressure he faced. Pandya added that it would be a long time before Dayal could return to the field.
Dayal’s IPL 2023 Performance
Yash Dayal had picked up 11 wickets in nine matches for the defending champions in IPL 2022. However, he was not at his best this year. In the three matches he played, the 25-year-old failed to pick up a single wicket, and his economy overall in this edition went past 15.
After the match, Kolkata Knight Riders shared a message of encouragement for Yash Dayal. The official social media handle of KKR put out a tweet, asking the young bowler to keep his chin up, and stated that he was a champion and would come back stronger.
The Indian Premier League provides young cricketers with an opportunity to showcase their talents on a global stage. However, it can also be a harsh platform, as witnessed in the case of Yash Dayal. The young bowler’s performance against KKR had an adverse impact on his health, but his fellow cricketers and fans have extended their support to him during this difficult time.
