BCCI to take charge of KL Rahul’s injury, new LSG captain announced ahead of IPL 2023 clash with CSK

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul suffered a hamstring injury during their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2023.

As per reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will take over Rahul’s case from the franchise, and his further participation in the IPL is subject to the discretion of the BCCI and National Cricket Academy (NCA).

KL Rahul’s Injury Case Taken Over by BCCI

LSG captain KL Rahul suffered a hamstring injury during the game against RCB and had to leave the field in pain. Though it is not clear how serious the injury is, scans have been done, and Rahul is set to miss a few games for the LSG team.

According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI will take over Rahul’s injury case completely, and his further participation in the IPL is subject to the discretion of the BCCI and NCA.

With Rahul’s injury, all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been named as the new captain for the LSG team ahead of their IPL 2023 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Rahul will miss the Wednesday game against CSK, and his participation in future games will be determined by the BCCI and NCA.

The BCCI and NCA have made it their priority to get KL Rahul fit for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which is scheduled to take place in a month’s time. Every decision regarding Rahul will be taken under the BCCI’s supervision, according to franchise sources.

Options for LSG to Replace Rahul

KL Rahul is a crucial player for LSG as he is not only their opening batter but also their captain. With his absence, the team has two options: either replace him with Manan Vohra in a straight swap at the top of the order, or bring back Quinton de Kock as the opener and play an Indian pace bowler in place of Naveen ul Haq.

The injury to KL Rahul is a significant blow to LSG’s chances in the IPL 2023, as he is an essential player for the team. LSG suffered their fourth loss in IPL 2023 against RCB in the last game and will be eager to come back to winning ways in their second home game in a row, against CSK.
