Abdul Samad’s Last-Ball Six Seals Victory for SRH After Sandeep Sharma’s No Ball Controversy Against RR

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a nail-biting last-ball thriller in Jaipur on Sunday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. With this win, SRH has kept its hopes alive in the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals post challenging total

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first, and their decision was backed by aggressive fifties by Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson. They both helped RR post a challenging total of 214 for two.

In response, SRH started strong, with Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi keeping them in the hunt. However, Yuzvendra Chahal’s impressive four-wicket haul almost derailed their chase. But a cameo from Glenn Phillips reignited the chase, and Abdul Samad’s crucial knock of 17 not out off seven balls helped SRH cross the finish line.

The match’s most dramatic moment came in the final delivery of the match. With SRH needing five runs to win from the last ball, Abdul Samad miscued his shot off the bowling of Sandeep Sharma. It looked like RR had won the match. However, the celebrations were cut short as the umpire signaled no-ball. Replays showed that Sandeep had overstepped, and he had to bowl the final ball all over again.

Abdul Samad seals the deal for SRH

Samad was on strike once again, and this time, he made no mistake as he slammed the ball directly over the bowler’s head for a six. With that shot, SRH completed the highest chase at the venue, and the team and fans erupted in joy.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen took one wicket each for SRH, while Chahal’s four-wicket haul was the highlight of RR’s bowling.

It was a thrilling match that lived up to the expectations of IPL fans worldwide. Rajasthan Royals put up a strong fight, but Sunrisers Hyderabad’s never-say-die attitude and Abdul Samad’s heroics helped them seal the deal in the end.
