Watch: Fake IPL Tickets Racket Busted In Hyderabad During SRH vs MI Clash
A fan bought six tickets for the game, only to find that their seats were already occupied at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, on April 18, where the Sunrisers Hyderabad were playing against the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
However, they were provided with alternative seats, and the complaint stated that the fans noticed many others facing the same issue as well.
Fake IPL Tickets racket busted
Over the incident, Rachakonda police arrested over a dozen people for possession of fake security passes and fake IPL match tickets. The accused were caught after a number of people entered the stadium with fake tickets and passes.
The Action After Incident Came to Light
The authorities lodged a case against the ticket vendor after they spotted 13 people carrying fake security IDs to try and watch the clash between SRH and MI. According to many sources, it has been revealed that fake tickets and IDs were being sold by ticket vendors by duplicating the barcode that is provided on the original copies onto the fake ones.
L Spandana (name changed), a law student, was quoted saying that “We entered the stadium at around 8 pm and by then those seats were already occupied by some other persons.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad Struggled To Win The Games
They played their most recent game against the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals on Monday, April 24. Hyderabad put in a fabulous performance in the first innings with the ball as they limited Delhi to a score of 144 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar put in a sensational spell, conceding just 11 runs and taking two wickets in four overs. Furthermore, Washington Sundar struck thrice as well, conceding 28 runs in the four overs he bowled.
However, during the run chase, only Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klassen managed to make an impact. Amassing 49 and 31 runs to their names, respectively. Albeit, their knocks went in vain, as Delhi Capitals won the game by seven runs.
The Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Hyderabad find themselves on the lower end of the IPL points table. Currently, with four points in seven games, which included two wins and five losses, Hyderabad are placed ninth in the standings.
