Virat Kohli shoots up six places to make the top ten of the ICC T20I rankings following Pakistan’s masterclass

Virat Kohli’s splendid innings against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup propels him up six spots in the ICC rankings.

The return of the King to the ICC top 10
Virat Kohli has risen to ninth in the latest ICC T20I batsmen rankings after his unbeaten 82-run knock helped India defeat Pakistan. Kohli jumped six positions to end ninth and make it into the top ten.
The 33-year-old was ranked 35th among batsmen in the ICC T20I rankings in August. Following his Asia Cup exploits, he ascended even higher, and there was no turning back since his century against Afghanistan, which stamped authority.
A knock for the ages that still has us all in awe and in an unfathomable euphoria, it is critical that he maintains his form. The entire world was expecting a Kohli redemption, and he has certainly delivered. In just 15 innings in 2022, he averages a little over fifty runs. His record includes five fifties and a century. If he could just score 74 more runs, he could meet his career high from 2016. He is currently on 567 runs in this calender year.
After only playing one match, India is second behind Bangladesh and will face the Netherlands on Thursday. If they win their match and South Africa advances against the tricky Bangla tigers, India will ascend the ladder ascertaining qualification.
