Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 Semi Finals : Saurashtra proved too good for Karnataka; Assam go down against Maharashtra
Two highly contrasting semi finals were played on Wednesday in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022.
The first of them was a high scoring feast, where Maharashtra posted a mammoth total. Thanks to centuries by Gaikwad and Bawne.
On the other hand, Saurashtra was posed no threat by Karnataka.

Semi Final 1: Maharashtra : 350/7 (50) vs Assam. : 338/8 (50)
Both the teams were high in confidence after their exploits in the Quarter Finals and it the match was poised to be “The Clash of the Titans”.
Match Result:- Maharashtra won by 12 runs
Match Review: Riding high on centuries of both Ruturaj and Ankit, Maharashtra posed a formidable 350 in their allotted 50 overs. Assam fought with fervour till the last ball with Purakayastha (95) and Roy (78), but couldn’t match up to their opponents.
Semi Final 2 : Karnataka: 171 ( 49.1) vs Saurashtra : 172/5 ( 36.2 )
Coming after comprehensive wins in the Quarter Finals, both the teams were in for a “Fight of Equals”
Match Result:- Saurastra win by 5 wickets
Match Review : It was a meek surrender for Karnataka as Saurashtra hardly put a foot wrong. Skipper Jaydev Unadkad ‘s fiery opening spell was “Too hot to handle” by the Karnataka batsmen as they fell like nine-pins and only managed to put up 171 on the board which seemed to be a cakewalk for Saurashtra in the end as they chased it down with 13 overs to spare.
