Suryakumar Yadav shows Sanju Samson’s picture from team bus, mob erupt in joy at Kerala

After winning the recently concluded bilateral series against Australia, the Indian squad drove to Thiruvananthapuram, where fans gathered around the team bus to greet them. As the video surfaced, star batter Suryakumar Yadav shows them a picture of local boy Sanju Samson to pump up the crowd.
Sanju Samson has been a fan favourite ever since he came into the picture as a top order batter for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2013 IPL as a lanky teenager. Although Sanju has been profoundly been unlucky with the opportunities he has gotten over the years to represent the country he has been loved for his batting style and down-to-earth personality. The 27-year-old led his IPL team to the finals for the first time in 14 years but they fell short.
Samson is currently leading the India A squad and will miss the forthcoming world cup and bilateral series.
The fans greeted the Indian squad as Suryakumar showed them a picture of their homegrown lad, which elicited a hero’s welcome from the audience.

It was an admirable gesture from Surya to have flicked a picture of a player who isn’t traveling with the team as their friendship goes beyond being on the same team. Sanju would have completed 10 years of cricket next year and he looks more determined than ever to turn his career around.
Inconsistency has been keeping him away from featuring regularly in the team but with senior players aging, Sanju’s time might be around the corner.
