Last night it was reported that Barcelona and Inter Milan had reached an agreement on principle for the loan of Jordi Alba but today Alba clearly stated that he wants to stay at Barca and he rejected the move.
However, another fullback from Barcelona has accepted his departure and that player is Sergino Dest who according to widespread reports in the Italian Media will join Inter Milan’s arch rivals AC Milan.

He will be joining the Italian side on a loan deal which will run until 2023 and they are going to pay Dest’s entire wages during that spell which is believed to be around 4 Million Euros net and that is simply good for Barca financially.
In terms of a permanent move, AC Milan will have ‘an option to buy’ at the end of the loan spell which is considered to be around 20 Million Euros.
And if indeed the right back performs well at Milan and leaves the club on a permanent deal, Barca would record a little bit of loss in this transfer cause back in 2020 when they signed the USA International it was for a fee of 21 Million Euros plus 5 Million in variables.
But the transfer of Dest is majorly happening cause since the start of the season or maybe even in pre-season, Dest has hardly played any games for the Spanish giants and Xavi too has clearly stated many times in his press conferences that he doesn’t count on the full-back and has told him to leave the club immediately.
Dest was every time out of the matchday squad list with Xavi and that is a situation that couldn’t be sustained, hence the club had to reach an agreement with the player.
Now that he is leaving, it is surely a great move for him as he is still 21 years old and he is still learning and developing, so he has a chance to go to Italy and play with a team that has just won the Scudetto.
This is an opportunity to turn his situation around and show the world how good of a right back he is. So if indeed he plays outstandingly, next summer there could be a possibility that Xavi would be in favour to keep Dest in his team.
For Barca, there is a situation where they could enforce a bidding war between many clubs to jack up the price to sell the full-back instead of selling him for 20 Million Euros.
