Official: Shaheen Shah Afridi to feature in upcoming T20 World Cup

Pakistan prodigy Shaheen Shah Afridi will play in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
After missing out on the recent Asia Cup following an injury, the 22-year-old left-arm fast bowler is expected to return to the Pakistan cricket squad for the T20 World Cup. His presence will restore confidence and firepower as he has always been a match winner.
The PCB press release said that “Shaheen Shah Afridi will join the national squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 in Brisbane as per schedule on Saturday, 15 October, after undergoing his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the PCB Medical Advisory Committee at the Crystal Palace Football Club.” Shaheen is also available to play the two warm-up matches for Pakistan on October 17 and 19 respectively vs England and Afghanistan.
Shaheen Shah returns to T20 World Cup
Afridi has stated, “I have been bowling six to eight overs trouble-free for the past 10 days with full run-up and pace. While I have enjoyed bowling and batting in the nets, nothing can replace the feel of the match environment and I can’t wait to be in that setting.
“It has been a rigorous and challenging rehabilitation program, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. To be honest, I am feeling fitter than ever before and can’t wait to wear the playing kit and fire a few thunderbolts.”
His comeback would be welcome relief for skipper Babar Azam, who has been missing his talisman in recent months. Afridi would be a threat in foreign conditions that would provide bounce and aid the seamers.
He has 38 wickets in 38 T20 international appearances, including a career-best 3 for 20. The cameras will undoubtedly be trained on him in the World Cup opener against archrivals India, since no one can forget what occurred last time.
