Tamil Nadu’s Shahrukh Khan has become a household name in Indian domestic cricket in a short time.
Indian team’s selector Chetan Sharma mentioned that selectors are keeping a close watch on certain players. These players have been doing well in Vijay Hazare Trophy and SMAT recently.
There is no doubt about the fact that Shahrukh Khan is one of those players. The all-rounder has been in stellar form recently. He has shown glimpses of his talent in both IPL and domestic cricket.
Shahrukh Khan dominance in domestic cricket
His latest feat came in the final of SMAT 2020. With Tamil Nadu needing five off the last ball against Karnataka, Shahrukh smashed a massive hit out of the park to cruise his side to a comprehensive victory.
He played a amazing inning of 33 runs in just 15 balls to give his team a chance in the game. Further, this was the second year on the trot where he single-handedly won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Tamil Nadu.
Later last year, he also had a stellar run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the eight matches that he played, Shahrukh Khan managed to score 253 runs at an average of 56. He scored two fifties in the tournament at a strike rate of over 180. He also scored 20 sixes which was the second-highest in the tournament.
Albeit Tamil Nadu’s lost to Himanchal Pradesh in the final, Shahrukh’s effort didn’t go unnoticed. As a result of his great outing in the domestic season, the 26-year-old has received his maiden international call-up for the home series against West Indies.
What will be his future in IPL 2022?
While talking about his approach to the crucial aspect of finishing the games for his team Shahrukh Khan said in an exclusive interview with TOI, “I keep calm and play my game. I always want to get the job done for my team. I don’t let the pressure hit me when I go to the crease.” He further added, “I idolise MS Dhoni and want to finish games the way he did for India.”
This statement of Shahrukh has done a lot of wonders. Will we see a finisher get groomed by one of the best in the game? Since Punjab Kings has decided against retaining Shahrukh, there are many chances that he can end up at Chennai Super Kings.
Previously MS Dhoni was captured watching Shahrukh Khan play for Tamil Nadu. Which made several netizens if Dhoni was scouting Shahrukh for the role of a finisher at CSK.
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu player was sold for a price tag of 5.5 crores in the previous auction. And his tremendous performance over the years has only added to his value. He will be one of the players to watch for in the upcoming IPL Auction.
