Gerard Pique announce retirement from football; will play his last game for Barcelona against Almeria on Saturday

In a shocking turn of events, Barcelona star defender Gerard Pique has announced his retirement from all form of football.

The 35-year-old defender has been with Barcelona for nearly 15 years. And has finally decided that his time at the club and football in general is over.

Hence, he has decided to play his final game for his club FC Barcelona on Saturday. Before hanging up his boots for the good.

Pique shared an emotional video on twitter announcing his retirement on Saturday.

The reasons behind Pique’s retirement are very obvious. In the past year or two the player has fallen out of favour from the club and fans altogether.

Neither his form on the pitch and his actions outside of it have helped his cause. As a result of which Pique starred in just 3 games for Barcelona in this season.

His last cap came against Inter Milan in Champions League. It was a must win game for Barcelona, as they were already on the verge of dropping out. And Pique chose not to turn up in the game.

Rather, he made some very unforgiving errors that lead to a 3-3 draw between the two teams.

Also, he has been in news for his affair with one of his teammates mother. Which has not don’t the club’s integrity any good.

There was a a lot of speculations about Pique leaving the club in the winter transfer market. However, the player has decided to become a master of his destiny and retire from football altogether.
