Dube’s 95* helps CSK register their first victory of IPL 2022

Seeing CSK’s performance in the recent matches, it was certain that they would require a miracle to get off the trenches. And Shivam Dube’s inning was nothing less than a miracle.

He came on to the crease when his team struggled for 36 in 7 overs.

Dube had a slow start to the inning. But once he got his eyes in, he started smashing bowlers all around the park.

It all started in the 11th over for him when he smashed Hasaranga for more than ten runs in the over. It was one of the rare sights in this season, as the Sri Lankan had been in great form so far.

Dube’s inning redeems Chennai Super Kings

In the form that Dube was in, it was hard for any bowler to contain him. He managed to get at least one boundary in every over he played. He brought up his fifty at the end of the 15th over in almost no time.

The absolute carnage was brought upon the bowlers; post this over. Both the batters decided to take on the bowlers like they were nothing.

Dube and Uthappa smashed the likes of Mohammad Siraj and Deep for sixes in every direction.

Siraj conceded 18 runs in the 17th over, and Deep, in the next over, was scratching his head as Dube shamed him irrespective of where he bowled. There was a point where it felt as if Deep was unable to keep his thoughts together. He bowled wider balls that were called wides, and anything on the stumps was being dispatched out of the park.

Dube finished the inning with 95 runs against his name in just 46 deliveries. It was a shame to see that he couldn’t complete his century. After such a tremendous knock, he certainly deserved it.

In his knock, he smashed five fours and eight gigantic sixes.

He, alongside Uthappa, added 165 runs for the third wicket in just 80 balls.

This fantastic partnership helped Chennai Super King post a massive total of 216.

Dominating the second inning for Chennai Super Kings

The second inning was a seesaw for sure. RCB started off in style, but CSK kept picking up wickets as well.

Theeshanaka was the pick of their bowlers, who picked up four wickets to dent RCB from time to time. Captain Jadeja also picked up three wickets to keep his side in the game.

The match was still very tight towards the end. With Dinesh Kartik going strong, it was anyone’s game.

However, CSK dismissed him for the first time in this tournament to swing the game in their favor.

In the end, they won the game by runs.
