Legendary offie with the wrong un.
Harbhajan Singh, the renowned cricketer, has made a harsh statement regarding MS Dhoni ahead of the IPL mini-auction. Dhoni was re-appointed as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain after Ravindra Jadeja stepped down during the league phase of the IPL 2022.
MSD’s Chennai Super Kings will look to rebound from a forgettable season in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni’s Yellow Battalion, champions in four editions of the country’s wealthiest cricket event, failed to qualify for the IPL playoff stage last season.
Picked as Dhoni’s ideal successor, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja chose to stand away from the captaincy job following CSK’s disastrous league performance the previous season.
Last season, the Jadeja-led CSK lost six of their eight league matches. After Jadeja decided to forgo captaincy in order to focus more on his individual performance, Dhoni was reintroduced as the leader of the Yellow Brigade.
Former CSK player Harbhajan Singh stated on the Star Sports show Game Plan that CSK have their work cut out for them in the upcoming season. Even though Dhoni is nearing the end of his IPL career, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh believes the Ranchi legend is still the ideal skipper for the Chennai-based team.
Bajji’s verdict on MS Dhoni
“They have a lot of work to do. Dhoni’s best cricket is behind him as well. Yes, he is the best captain today also. If you make him stand as a captain, you will not get that value from any other captain. You will have to find an option for him as well, who can come along with Dhoni who can take the team forward. There were some issues with Ravindra Jadeja, we don’t know what happened there,” Harbhajan said.
“Ravindra Jadeja will definitely come back but we saw that they don’t have batting at the top and the finisher’s spot, the role which Bravo and Dhoni used to perform, is also looking empty,” He added.
Last season, Dhoni’s CSK had only four victories and ten defeats in 14 league matches. They will consider reinstating youth experience in the upcoming auction as well as making amends.
