Croatia 1-1 Brazil: Modric & co. defeat Neymar’s Brazilian army 4-2 on penalties

Luka Modric’s Croatia have managed to pull off the unthinkable as they have knocked out the pre-tournament favourites Brazil in order to progress to the semi-finals. The match went all the way to the penalty shootout and then the Croatians knew that this is the best chance to win the game and hence they kept their nerves intact which helped them to win the shootout.

Now the South American side have been knocked out of the World Cup for the second consecutive time in the quarter finals. It was all but confirmed before the match that a semi finals between Argentina and Brazil is on the cards, but the European giants stood in the way of the 5 time world champions and crushed their dream.

As soon as the match started, it was clearly seen that Croatia weren’t scared of Brazil as they were pressing and playing attacking football. Both teams were giving out their all which is why the defence was so strong that after 90 minutes the score was still 0-0 and the game went into extra time.

In extra time, at the 105th minutes, Neymar took the game upon himself and produced a sensational goal which gave hs team the lead in the match and after that stunner, it was assumed that Tite’s side would go onto win this game.

However, Croatia did not back down and still kept fighting and due to this fighting spirit, in the second of extra time they equalised, courtesy of Petkovic. And then on penalties, they won the game and now in the semi finals, the Croatias will face another South American side which is Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
