According to widespread reports in the English media, Chelsea football club have reached an agreement with Leicester City FC for the signing of French sensation Wesley Fofana. At the moment it is a verbal agreement and it is expected that both clubs will complete this deal formally in 3-4 days. This news has also been backed by one of the most reliant journalists Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer saga looks like it will finally end after the Blues submitted their 4th bid for the player on Thursday and Tuchel’s side have already agreed on the personal terms with Fofana many months ago so that won’t be a problem and all that remains is the paperwork.
Know Fofana contract details
Chelsea are signing him for an astronomical amount of around 80 Million Euros and this deal was very difficult to complete because Leicester were very reluctant to sell their star man which resulted in the rejection of 3 bids from Chelsea. But now the player had officially stated that he wishes to leave the club and so the pressure from the player forced them to take this decision and sell him.
The Blues have spent a total of 181 Million Euros till now for the signings of 6 players that they completed and now the 80 Million of Wesley and they are also linked with Anthony Gordon and Aubameynag. And if they manage to complete all these deals, they would hit the 300 Million spend this summer which would skyrocket the expectations for the new season.
Tuchel has got a player who joined the Premier League at the age of 19 and since then he has performed outstandingly well which makes him a player who is ‘Premier League proven’. So Fofana surely has the qualities to solve the defensive problems of Chelsea and he together with all the other signings can make the Blues the title contenders for this season despite the poor start that they have had. All in all, it would be interesting to see if Wesly manages to live up to the expectations that he has created and if he transforms Chelsea.
