Big Injury Scare for Pakistan: Naseem Shah set to miss entire ODI World Cup
Less than three weeks before the commencement of their ODI World Cup campaign in India, Pakistan has been dealt a terrifying blow: fast bowler Naseem Shah has been almost ruled out of the competition due to a shoulder injury he sustained during an Asia Cup encounter. His right shoulder appeared to have been hurt, according to reports, but it has now turned out to be worse than thought.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), according to ESPNCricinfo, is seeking a second opinion, but scans from a test in Dubai indicate that Naseem might be out for the rest of the year. If the secondary results are consistent, the young player may face a layoff lasting several months, which would mean that he would also miss the World Cup, the Australian Test series, and the 2024 Pakistan Super League season.
What caused Naseem Shah the Injury?
Naseem left the field in the middle of the 46th over of Pakistan’s Super Four match against India last week after suffering a shoulder injury. The study also said that the injury was not a repeat of any earlier injuries.
Based on the results of the subsequent tests, PCB will probably provide a formal statement regarding the injury in a few days. In Pakistan’s final Super Four game last week against Sri Lanka, he was replaced by Zaman Khan. Mohammad Hasnain, another potential substitute, is also injured.
Since recovering from a back ailment 18 months ago, Naseem has increased his workload dramatically. He has been Pakistan’s most effective weapon in ODIs, taking 32 wickets in 14 games at the age of just 17. Additionally, he has been selected for the SA20 league for the upcoming season due to his popularity in various T20 leagues around the world. He most recently played in the LPL.
