Antoine Griezmann breaks Thierry Henry’s record to be France’s highest assist leader

The defending champions France progressed to the semi-finals by defeating their arch-rivals England in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup by a scoreline of 2-1.

They would be now facing the African side of Morocco in the semis and Deschamps men have the chance to be in the final once again for the second consecutive which has not happened since Brazil 2002.

Griezmann breaks Zidane, Henry record for most assists

However, coming into the game, Les Blues produced a proper tactical masterclass against Southgate’s men and Antoine Griezmann was at the heart of it as he assisted both the goals for his nation.

Hence, by assisting both goals, the Frenchman became the all-time leader of assists for France by breaking Thierry Henry and Zinedine Zidane’s records who were on 26 assists and now Antoine is on 28. His first assist came in the match at the 17th minute when he passed the ball to the midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni outside of the box and then his teammate scored an absolute stunner to give his nation the lead in the game.

But in the second half, England equalised the match and then the experienced players of France had to step to win this game. So Antoine Griezmann became the perfect example for it as the 78th minute, he provided a wonderful cross to Giroud which the striker converted into a goal by scoring a sensational header. Hence because of that goal, France progressed to the next round and if they want to win this year’s cup, they would surely need Antoine in their team.
